Budget your time, then add a buffer. Everything takes longer with kids – from checking in at the airport to waiting for all of your bags to roll off the carousel – the more of you there are, the more opportunities for hold ups.
While everyone at the resort and all of your instructors on activities will speak perfect English, there is a good chance you’ll meet some blank faces in town. Learn a friendly hello (dzien dobry) if you can and be prepared to do some miming! It’s also worth printing off a list of allergies and medicines in Polish/Czech.
Very few places in town accept card payments, so bring some Polish Zloty and Czech Koruna along for coffees, cakes and trinkets.
Familiarise your family with the itinerary – they’ll know what to look forward to in the week ahead, which should calm any anxieties.
First stop: supermarket. You’ll get your breakfast and dinner at the hotel and lunch on activities, but your active schedule might make for some snack hungry kids – there are a couple of supermarkets in town, so we advise stocking up on some bits and bobs.
Lock your passports in your safe when you get to the hotel, but it’s always handy to carry a photocopy with you.
